Introduction

This technical fit out saw ISG convert an existing office facility into a world-class drug testing laboratory in Hong Kong.

The laboratory is set to deliver the highest standards of drug-testing services and is the only internationally-accredited facility in Asia.

The project saw ISG deliver a technically-demanding fit out and specialist works within a highly-controlled environment spanning 15,000 sq ft.

The project

We delivered the fit out, engineering and A&A works for the laboratory area, work which included creating special facilities such as a cleanroom lab, specimen room, lab gas fitting and the creation of three concrete dog houses.

Converting the existing office into a state-of-the-art facility required site demolition, substantial structural modifications and installation of new electrical and mechanical services, air handling units and a new roof-level chiller.

Extensive coordination and communication with the end-user and facility manager were required when decommissioning the existing MEP system.

During demolition and construction, our team worked closely with the client and monitored vibration impact and hygiene control, due to the sensitivity of the work environment.

The work timeline was trimmed to accommodate noisy work hours and race days. In order to deliver to the tight programme, our team worked round-the-clock shifts on site.

Despite the site complexities and challenging timeframe, ISG completed the world-class facility to exceptional standards.
